June Event – Bridging the Gap: Inside the Award-Winning Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing

Join APWA NorCal and ACEC East Bay Young Professionals for an evening event hosted by the City of San Ramon Public Works Department, featuring a closer look at the award-winning Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing at Bollinger Canyon Road. While organized by the Young Professionals Committee, this event is open to APWA members and non-members of all ages.

The event will begin with a project presentation by City of San Ramon staff, covering the planning, design, and construction of the Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing. The presentation will highlight key engineering challenges, safety considerations, trail connectivity improvements, and coordination efforts that contributed to the project’s successful delivery and industry recognition.

Following the presentation, attendees will participate in a guided walk of the project site. City staff will discuss notable design features, construction methods, and lessons learned, providing practical insights into the execution of a complex, multimodal infrastructure project.

The evening will conclude with an informal networking happy hour, offering an opportunity to connect with peers and colleagues working in public works, engineering, transportation, planning, construction management, and related fields across Northern California.

This event is ideal for anyone interested in learning more about real-world public works projects while engaging with professionals from across the region.
